Overview

Northern Santorini Private Tour Sunset in Oia

You won’t know which way to look first on this Santorini guided tour. This island is the home of iconic Grecian views that encompass white-washed adobe homes, the famous Blue Dome Church, and the magnificent Aegean Sea. Whether you want to spend the day exploring the Santorini northern part or relaxing on the caldera, there’s no better way to welcome the evening than our Oia sunset tour. Sites to visit include Venetsanos Winery, Pyrgos,Prophet Elias, Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia.

We’ll take you to the top of Santorini’s highest mountain, Prophet Elias, to begin our tour of the Greek Christian monastery at its peak and the artifacts within its opulent walls. Rising 2,000 feet from the sea, the mountain offers a panoramic view of the island settings below it on all sides. Your Santorini guided tour includes a stop at the scenic village of Pyrgos, where you can take your own pictures of this most-photographed place.

Volcanic soil is rich in nutrients, making it a great place for viniculture, an ancient practice here. We’ll visit the Venetsanos Winery, where you can sample the area’s rare and famous wines and learn about the local winemaking process.

Your tour of the Santorini northern part also includes stops at the villages of Imerovigli and Firostefani for some important cultural icons and plenty of photo opportunities. Imerovigli offers a stunning view of the caldera, a volcanic depression with one collapsed side. The other half gives the bay its distinctive half-moon shape. Imerovigli is where we find Skaros, a huge rock once used as part of a castle. Firostefani is home to the famed Blue Dome Church, whose striking blue top matches the beautiful sea beyond.

We wrap up our half-day tour at the village of Oia, whose stunning views have drawn artists from all over the world and throughout the ages. They’re lured by the same Santorini, island and Aegean Sea vistas that you will see and appreciate too. The Oia sunset tour offers an excellent setting for viewing the caldera, whose niches provide shelter for a variety of homes scratched out of and built into its rock walls.

Enjoy a glass of wine in the setting of the castle as you watch the sunset over the water in one of the most romantic places on Earth. Ruins of the Venetian Kastro feature surviving gates, alleys, courtyards, and more.

Once the sun has set and you’ve wrung every pleasure from the day, you can enjoy a comfortable, air-conditioned ride back to the site where we first brought you on board.
