If you are like most travel aficionados, a visit to Santorini is likely high up on your bucket list. Outside of the Parthenon at the Acropolis, Santorini is Greece’s most famous tourist destination. The image of Greece that many foreigners maintain was probably formed from images seen of the island in television or in films. Now is your chance to experience it firsthand. Yet truly taking in all of Santorini’s majesty requires a little help from the locals. Not to worry; an area expert is ready and waiting to help you and your party see the best of the island with a Santorini full-day private guided tour.
Your private custom tour of Santorini in a day is specifically designed to allow you to see as much or as little of the island as you want. Your professional tour guide has a wealth of information to share about the various stops along the route, including:
You and your party can choose to be picked up at your hotel, the airport, or right from the Athinios port or at the exit of the Cable car in Fira town (cruising passengers must provide the name of their ship, as well as their docking, disembarkation and re-boarding times). You can begin your tour either in the morning or afternoon and enjoy up to eight hours of tour-guided fun and adventure.
If adventure is what you’re looking for, Santorini is the right place for it. Ever hear of the lost city of Atlantis? You may very well be setting foot in it. Many historians believe its story originated from Akrotiri, a Bronze Age city that once occupied the island. A volcanic eruption over 3600 years ago preserved the city and it’s many elaborate buildings, vessels and artwork. You can see it all at the Akrotiri Archeological Site.
Remnants of the volcano that brought the end of Akrotiri can still be seen in the caldera that Santorini rests upon. A breathtaking view of it can be taken in at the villages of Imerovigli and Oia. Oia in particular offers some awe-inspiring views, including some of the most stunning sunsets you’ll ever see. You can also visit the Prophet Ilias Monastery perched at the highest point of the island to enjoy a panoramic vista. A stop by the Venetsanos Winery on your Santorini full-day tour offers similar stunning views while enjoying a world-class glass of wine.
Other elements of Greek culture can be seen in the Blue Dome Church at Firostefani, the windmills at Emporio, the Venetian castle ruins at Pyrgos, or the quaint village of Megalochori. Of course, no trip to Santorini is complete without a stop at the Red or Black Beaches. Yes, the sand at these spots matches the colors of their names thanks to the area’s volcanic history. You can take all of the wonders of the landscape in while enjoying a meal at one of the island’s many seaside eateries.
All travel costs associated with the tour and the use of your tour vehicle are included in your fee, as are all reference materials (available in English, French, Spanish, German and Russian). Entrance fees at the tour destinations as well as food and beverage costs are not included.

My daughter and I spent a lovely day on Santorini with our guide Katherine and driver Alex. Katherine picked us up at the top of the funicular (we left our cruise ship as early as possible on a tender) and actually arrived a little early – a miracle. Our first stop was Oia, a gorgeous city with a wealth of blue domed churches to photograph and beautiful scenery. Katherine walked us up and down the main street, giving us history and anecdotes and taking lots of pictures of us since her hobby is photography. Pyrgos was a lovely, uncrowded town and the lunch at 41 on the Black Sand Beach was very good with a stunning view. A very relaxing day with a great guide and driver, followed by a long line to descend the funicular.
We booked online a half-day trip for a group of six people with Santorini private tours. They take us from JTR airport. The driver drove us to the hidden places of Santorini. The minibus was new with leather seats and very spacious, with good air conditioning. We had a great tour!
After hiking up the hill with mules everywhere (not a fun experience) our tour guide, Stefanos met us at the top and he and his driver took us on a wonderful tour of the island. We started out in Fira and then to Oia and although we didn’t see the sunset we avoided the crowds and got some beautiful pictures. We then traveled to the monastery at the highest point on the island, although cloudy it was fun. We then went to a black sand beach and had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant called Forty One on the beach. On returning to Fira town we saw a wonderful start to the sunset and after departing our tour and descending down the hill to the dock we saw another beautiful sunset. Stefanos and the driver (forgot his name) were knowledgeable and kept us laughing and interested the entire trip. Highly recommend this excursion. (Hint he’s from Canada)
